Welcome to SoundMatch. By using this site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
1. The service
SoundMatch helps you match vintage hi-fi gear (1970–1990) with modern equivalents, look up average used-market prices from eBay, and receive email price-drop alerts. Some features are free forever; some are locked behind a paid Pro subscription.
2. Accounts
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials safe. Don't share your account. We can suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms or that we reasonably suspect are being abused.
3. Payments & refunds
SoundMatch reports are one-time purchases ($1.99 per report), charged once at checkout — no subscriptions, no automatic renewals. Refunds are handled case-by-case; email support@soundmatch.app within 14 days of purchase.
4. Affiliate links
Many links to eBay and Amazon on this site are affiliate links. We may earn a small commission when you buy something after clicking one, at no extra cost to you. This does not influence which gear we recommend — recommendations are generated by our matching algorithm based purely on spec compatibility and price tier, not commission rates.
5. No warranty on gear info
We do our best to make the spec sheets, prices, and comparisons accurate — but we're not the manufacturer, not a certified appraiser, and vintage gear can vary from unit to unit. Prices and eBay listings change constantly. Use SoundMatch as a starting point, not as gospel. Always verify condition, specs, and price before buying.
6. Acceptable use
- Don't scrape the site with automated tools without permission.
- Don't reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our source code.
- Don't spam the price-alert system with fake emails.
- Don't use the site for any illegal purpose.
7. Intellectual property
The site design, code, curated spec data, and matching algorithm are ours. You may not copy, republish, or resell them. Brand names, logos, and product images referenced on the site remain the property of their respective owners; we display them under fair use for identification and comparison.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SoundMatch is provided "as is". We are not liable for financial loss arising from your purchase decisions, gear compatibility surprises, or eBay/Amazon transactions. Our maximum aggregate liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
9. Changes
We can update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced via email to logged-in users. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the state where SoundMatch is registered. Any dispute will first be handled by good-faith email discussion; only after that fails can either party seek formal resolution.
